BogiwoyeBEGIN TRANSACTION; Dragoljub Ćurčić is a software engineer specialized mostly in building web applications and databases. He was born in Subotica (Serbia), where he lives and works. Mostly as a hobbyist, he has experimented with music since 2003. Just for the fun of it. It all began with a software program called Fruity Loops, and continued with Propellerheads Reason. Finally in summer of 2004 Ableton Live came into the picture. Live has unlimited power and ease of use, with an endless ocean of third party VST instruments and effects which exist today. So he explored. The amount of music styles is increasing rapidly. Every person is unique. If everyone made music, at one point in the future there would be as many styles as there are people, probably more. It’s hard to imagine, but the way a man can express himself is changing. First there were paper and pen combined with physical instruments, later replaced by analogue electronic instruments. Finally we have computers which allow an artist to do something previously unimaginable. One day there will probably be a way to express thoughts and feelings in other forms, and create experiences. Then again, most artists start making music by trying to mimic a favorite track, artist, or style. People say this is a good way to practice and learn. That’s also the way Dragoljub started out. His favorite style was techno when he started exploring musical software. He enjoyed music of artists like Richie Hawtin, Mathew Jonson, Monolake, Basic Channel, Maurizio and more recently Philippe Cam, Steve Reich, Ryoji Ikeda. Dragoljub is not a trained musician or a DJ. Thus his music is simple, maybe even a bit childish. A better term to describe him is “audio artist”. As Bogiwoye he performed live using MIDI controllers and a laptop with Ableton Live since 2007. The performances were based on mixing small loops of his music. The music was created, performed and stayed mostly in loop form. He hasn’t released anything yet, except one track called “Hypno Toad”, on a compilation album with tracks of other local electronic artists. People are mostly not interested in his music, which is understandable. It really isn’t anything to write home about. A long journey of exploration and improvement is ahead of him. I would like to collaborate with graphic designers, musicians, visual artists, writers. As you can see by looking at this page and listening to my music, I could really use some help :) |
